Saudi oil hits are claimed. Not a new close.
Brent settlement stands. Do not chase oil.
The Dow fell Friday. Do not buy the dip.
Yields bounced. Do not cover bonds.
Score is 43. Still neutral. Not a flip. Not a flip. Score 43 of 100. The label is NEUTRAL. Yesterday the score was 43. The label was already NEUTRAL. The line for CAUTION is 45. The line for RISK-ON is 30. The line for RISK-OFF is 61. The score did not move. It is 2 points under the CAUTION line.
This is a weekend edition. Friday is the last completed US session. Cash markets are shut. This price feed has no Sunday bar. The last bar date is 23 Oct. A weekend screen is not a new close. A claim is not a hit. A comment is not an order.
The book versus yesterday is the same book. Do not add the crude sleeve because Saturday's claims named oil sites. Do not sell it because an early Sunday note said the danger had passed. Do not buy the Dow dip. Do not sell the book because the Dow fell on Friday. Do not cover the long bond. Do not add to the duration short. Do not buy chips.
As of this note, I have not read a confirmed new US strike. A later strike would be a new book. This note is not that book.
Friday is the last completed US session. Oil rows name the source. Cash markets are shut. This price feed has no Sunday bar.

| 30-year yield index (Fri close) | 5.315% | Up 2.8 basis points vs Thursday's 5.287. Not the cash yield |
| Cash 10-year (Fri close story) | 4.99% | The close story said the yield was up 3.7 basis points, at 4.99 percent. A second close story said it edged up to 4.99 percent from 4.96 percent late Thursday. Not this index. Do not average 4.99 and 4.988 |
| Brent (Fri settlement) | 116.72 dollars | Up 3.55 dollars, or 3.14 percent, from Thursday's 113.17. Highest since 29 Apr in the settlement story. This feed's Friday close is the same 116.72. Do not average it with a June 2022 label |
| WTI (Fri settlement) | 103.27 dollars | Up 3.80 dollars, or 3.8 percent, from Thursday's 99.47. The story did not name the month. This feed's December close is the same 103.27. Do not print a second price |
| Energy sector (Fri close story) | Record high | Up 2.5 percent in the close story. This feed's energy fund rose 2.6 percent, to 69.33. Do not average 2.5 and 2.6 |
| Semiconductor index (Fri close story) | Steadied | Up 0.4 percent in the close story. This feed's semiconductor fund rose 0.7 percent, to 527.20. Do not average 0.4 and 0.7. Not a repair of Thursday |
| Gold fund (Fri close) | 366.61 | Down 0.6 percent vs Thursday's 369.00. Not a futures settlement. Down 4.0 percent from the 16 Oct close on this feed |
| December gold (Fri close, this feed) | 4,007.90 dollars | Down 1.3 percent vs Thursday's 4,060.40 on this feed. The Friday afternoon note used the same settlement figure. I am not reprinting a last trade I did not pull |
| Dollar index (Fri close, this feed) | 101.81 | Up 0.2 percent vs Thursday's 101.61 on this pull. The close story did not print this index |
| Oil fund (Fri close, this feed) | 169.53 | Up 4.3 percent vs Thursday's 162.51. Not the settlement |
This note does not cite oil volume. Friday's volume on this feed for Brent, crude, and gold equals Thursday's volume. That is a copied print. It is not a thin print, and it is not a settlement volume.
Saturday Named Oil Sites. Sunday Said the Danger Had Passed. Neither Is a Close.Signal. The new wire is a claim, an intercept, and an all clear. It is not a settlement. The strait is not open.
Reuters on Saturday said the Houthis said they launched attacks on Saudi oil facilities and airports. The spokesman named an Aramco facility in Yanbu, the Rabigh refinery, crude pumping stations, and the East West pipeline. He also named airports in Riyadh, Dammam, and Najran, and an airbase in Khamis Mushait. Reuters said it was not immediately clear if any of those reported attacks had hit their targets in the kingdom or had been intercepted.
The same story said the Saudi led coalition destroyed two ballistic missiles fired toward Yanbu and Taif. Saudi civil defense said debris from intercepted missiles fell in the Mecca and Medina regions, and also in Jeddah, Taif, and Rabigh. It was not clear if that debris was linked to the reported targeting of the Rabigh refinery. The Houthis denied that they attacked Mecca and Medina. A denial and a debris report are not a measured flow. Do not trade them as a hit, and do not trade them as a miss.
On another front in that story, Yemen's Saudi backed government said the Houthis fired three ballistic missiles at coast guard sites in Aden. The interior ministry of that government said two missiles struck a coast guard headquarters and a third hit a coast guard building. There was no immediate comment from the Saudi led coalition on that assertion. An Aden claim is not a Hormuz settlement.
Reuters on Sunday said the Houthis renewed their warning against using Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport. The spokesman said the airport remained a military target. Late Saturday the airport said two terminals would be designated for flights by national carriers starting Sunday. Operations were halted on 10 Oct after an attack, claimed by the Houthis, that killed 13 people and wounded more than 300 others. A reopening plan is not an all clear. A renewed warning is not a new oil close.
An early Sunday live note said the Saudi led coalition intercepted a ballistic missile launched toward Riyadh, and destroyed a drone in the Riyadh region. Saudi civil defense then said the danger had passed. An intercept with an all clear is not a settlement. It is not a reason to sell the sleeve. It is not a reason to add.
I am not using tanker mine claims that I did not read in Reuters. A Thursday note said the president accused Iran of inventing hits and mines to lift the oil price. A claim I did not verify is not a flow I measured.
Macro Impact. A Saturday list of oil sites, with Reuters unwilling to say the sites were hit, does not replace Friday's settlement. A Sunday all clear over Riyadh does not open the strait. The error is to add the sleeve because the list named a refinery and a pipeline. The other error is to sell the sleeve because civil defense said the danger had passed.
Positioning. Hold the core crude sleeve. Do not add it. Do not sell it. Do not trade a weekend claim as Friday's book. Do not trade an all clear as an opening of the strait.

Friday's Settlement Still Stands. Do Not Chase It. Do Not Sell It.Signal. The price book is still Friday. This feed now matches both settlement numbers. Cash markets are shut.
The settlement story said Brent settled at 116.72 dollars, up 3.55 dollars, or 3.14 percent, the highest since 29 Apr. Adding 3.55 dollars to Thursday's 113.17 lands on 116.72. That lines up. This feed's Friday Brent close is 116.72. It matches. I am not printing a second contract. A lower bar in a prior note is not in this pull. Do not revive it. Do not average it with 116.72.
A second close story agreed on a settlement of 116.72 dollars and said that was the highest since June 2022. It also rounded the day to 3.1 percent. The price agrees. The history label does not. The day percent does not agree at two decimals. Do not average 29 Apr and June 2022. Do not average 3.14 and 3.1. Use the settlement story for the history label and the day percent.
The same settlement story said US crude closed at 103.27 dollars, up 3.80 dollars, or 3.8 percent. Adding 3.80 dollars to Thursday's 99.47 lands on 103.27. That lines up. The story did not name the month. This feed's December crude close is 103.27. It matches. I am not printing a second price. Do not trade a weekend screen as that close.
The settlement story said Brent finished the week up 6 percent and US crude ended the week 2.3 percent higher. Those are the settlement story's week figures. I am not recomputing them from this feed.
The same story said October has been the worst month for attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and nearby waterways, citing a Washington think tank. The story did not print a ship count. I am not inventing one. A worst month is not an opening of the strait.
The Energy Department authorized an emergency exchange of up to 400,000 barrels from the strategic reserve for a Phillips 66 refinery in Lake Charles. That was already in Friday's story. It is a refinery barrel count. It is not a new release, and it is not a market clearing release. The rig count held at 603. That is not a supply response. A tanker of Russian diesel heading for New York is a cargo in transit. It is not a settlement.
Macro Impact. A settlement of 116.72 dollars, up 3.14 percent on Friday, does not open the strait and does not clear it. A settlement of 103.27 dollars does not either. This feed matching both numbers is why you do not invent a second contract. It is not why you add. A 400,000 barrel exchange does not change that.
The energy sector rose 2.5 percent in the close story, to a record. This feed's energy fund rose 2.6 percent, to 69.33. The oil fund rose 4.3 percent, to 169.53. Those are not the settlement. A record in the equity sleeve is not a new crude entry.
Positioning. Hold the core crude sleeve. Do not add it. Do not sell it. Do not trade a weekend screen as Friday's book. Do not add the energy equity sleeve because it hit a record.

The Dow Fell 1.23 Percent on Friday. Do Not Sell the Book. Do Not Buy the Dip.Signal. Friday's cash close is still the equity book. Saturday and Sunday did not print a new US close.
The close story said the Dow fell 652.82 points, or 1.23 percent, to 52,215.16. The S&P 500 fell 39.75 points, or 0.52 percent, to 7,623.68. The Nasdaq fell 53.52 points, or 0.21 percent, to 25,955.34. This feed matches those three closes. Do not round them into a different tape. A second close story rounded the Dow to 1.2 percent and the S&P 500 to 0.5 percent. The point totals in that story match. Do not average 1.23 and 1.2.
The same close story said the S&P 500 fell 0.5 percent this week and the Nasdaq dropped 0.7 percent this week. The Dow rose 0.4 percent this week, a third straight weekly gain. This feed, from the 16 Oct close to the 23 Oct close, agrees at one decimal. I am not printing a second week.
Thursday was the technology break. Friday was not a repair, and it was not a second break. The semiconductor index rose 0.4 percent in the close story. The technology index rose 0.4 percent in that story. This feed's semiconductor fund rose 0.7 percent, to 527.20. Do not average 0.4 and 0.7. A one day steadying is not a repair of Thursday's drop, and it is not a new entry.
The drop was broad inside the S&P 500. A close story said nearly three of every four stocks in that index fell. That is the breadth line I re read. Do not invent a second count. Do not sell the whole book because the Dow fell 1.23 percent on Friday. Do not buy the book because the Nasdaq fell only 0.21 percent.
American Express fell 3.7 percent in the close story, after results and after it said it needed to become a more agile organization. A second close story said the same 3.7 percent, and said the firm announced its first major job cuts in roughly a decade. This feed had the shares down 3.7 percent, to 313.22. Caterpillar fell 2.4 percent in that second story. JPMorgan and Citigroup each fell 1.5 percent in that story. Those are Friday cash closes. They are not a reason to buy Monday's open.
The close story said Meta ended down 1 percent. Microsoft was up 0.7 percent in that story. Alphabet and Amazon eased. This feed had Meta down 1.0 percent, to 642.62, and Microsoft up 0.7 percent, to 524.51. This feed had Alphabet down 1.2 percent, to 320.21, and Amazon down 1.0 percent, to 248.00. Those stamps are still ahead. A one day ease is not a new entry, and it is not a reason to skip the reports.
The energy sector rose 2.5 percent in the close story, to a record. Chevron rose 2.9 percent in the second close story. This feed had Chevron up 2.9 percent, to 233.21, and Exxon up 2.8 percent, to 183.21. A record in the equity energy sleeve is not a reason to add the crude sleeve, and it is not a reason to add the equity sleeve on top of it.
Macro Impact. A 1.23 percent drop in the Dow on Friday, with nearly three of four S&P 500 stocks lower, is why you do not buy the dip. A 0.21 percent drop in the Nasdaq, with the semiconductor index up 0.4 percent in the close story, is why you do not treat Friday as a second technology crash. A shut weekend does not repair that tape, and it does not break it again.
Positioning. Do not buy the Dow dip. Do not sell the book. Do not buy the semiconductor fund. Do not add high beta tech into next week's reports. Do not add the energy equity sleeve because it hit a record. A starter in utilities is still cleaner than a chip chase. The utilities fund fell 0.7 percent on Friday, to 42.56. That is not a reason to add. Keep financials small. The fund fell 1.3 percent, to 55.90. That is not a new entry.

The Yield Index Did Not Move Again. Do Not Cover Bonds.Signal. No new US inflation print arrived over the weekend. The yield book is still Friday. A hold next week is still the base. A cut is not.
The 10 year yield index closed at 4.988 percent on Friday, up 3.5 basis points from Thursday's 4.953. The 5 year yield index closed at 4.805 percent, up 3.7 basis points from Thursday's 4.768. The 30 year yield index closed at 5.315 percent, up 2.8 basis points from Thursday's 5.287. The bill index closed at 4.032 percent, up 1.0 basis point from Thursday's 4.022. The long bond fund fell 0.5 percent on Friday, to 81.34. That lines up with a higher yield index. It is not the cash story. Do not force them into one number. A shut weekend did not print a new yield.
The close story said the 10 year yield was up 3.7 basis points, at 4.99 percent, and remained under 5 percent. A second close story said it edged up to 4.99 percent from 4.96 percent late Thursday. That is not this index. Do not average 4.99 and 4.988. Do not average 3.7 and 3.5. Do not average a 4.96 starting point with Thursday's index close of 4.953.
Thursday's drop was the large move. Friday gave a part of it back. A partial bounce is why you do not add to the duration short. It is not why you cover. A weekend with no new print does not cover it either. A higher oil settlement is why you do not cover.
The investment grade credit fund fell 0.4 percent on Friday, to 103.85. The high yield fund was little changed, at 77.05. Credit did not break. That is not a reason to buy the long bond, and it is not a reason to add to the short.
The calendar marks the US meeting on 27 to 28 Oct. There are no projections at that meeting. Decision day is 28 Oct (Wed). The following meeting, with projections, is 8 to 9 Dec (Tue to Wed). The close story said Wall Street expects a hold next week, and is leaning heavily toward another rise in December. It did not print a percentage. I am not reprinting a rate tool percentage I did not re pull. Do not trade a percentage the close story did not print. A cut is not the base.
The consumption price gauge is not out. Personal income and outlays for September, and the first read on third quarter output, are both listed by the statistics agency at 8:30 AM on 29 Oct (Thu). That is the morning after the decision. It is not a print before the meeting. The close story expects that September gauge to show a 3.7 percent rate. That is an expectation. It is not a print. Do not trade 3.7 percent as a result.
Macro Impact. A yield index that is still 4.988 percent, with no weekend print, is why you do not cover the duration short and why you do not add to it. The error is to buy the long bond because the cash yield is still under 5 percent. The other error is to add to the short because a December rise is still the lean in the close story. The meeting has not happened.
Positioning. Stay underweight long duration. Do not cover it. Do not add to the short. Hold cash and short bills over the long end. Do not trade a weekend screen as a new yield.

The Score Is Still 43. A Comment Is Not an Order.Signal. The label did not move. The book should not.
The score is 43. Yesterday it was 43. Fiscal pressure is 57. Central bank pressure is 54. Flow pressure is 43. Narrative stress is 9. VIX closed at 19.45 on Friday, up 0.42 points from Thursday's 19.03. The yield index closed at 4.988 percent. Those are Friday's inputs. A shut weekend does not rewrite them.
The line for CAUTION is 45. The line for RISK-ON is 30. The line for RISK-OFF is 61. A score of 43 is neutral. It is 2 points under the line that would put the CAUTION label back on. It is 13 points above the line for a risk on label. It is 18 points short of a risk off label.
A Saturday intelligence memo, seen by Reuters, said Iran has substantially increased efforts to target US personnel, and that lethal plotting against US citizens has reached advanced stages. The memo was dated 23 Oct. The State Department updated travel advisories on Saturday for more than a dozen countries in the Gulf and the Middle East. That is a security note. It is not a US close, and it is not an oil settlement.
A Saturday note said the US ambassador to Turkey told a podcast that a strike this weekend was possible. That note said he does not have a direct role on Iran. An Iranian military spokesman, in that same note, called US threats largely for media consumption. A podcast line is not an order. A dismissal is not an all clear. I have not read a confirmed new US strike as of this note.
A Saturday note also carried an Iranian ambassador's account that Tehran had conveyed, through Pakistan, a willingness to reopen the strait if the naval blockade ended, and that the ambassador accused Washington of rejecting it. That is the ambassador's account. I did not read a US confirmation. Do not trade it as a deal. Do not trade it as a confirmed rejection.
The president said on Friday the US could end the war quickly, and also asked whether Washington should let the conflict wind down. He said oil is getting out through the strait. A comment about two paths is not an order. It is not a ceasefire. It is not a settlement.
Alphabet and Microsoft report on 28 Oct (Wed) at 16:00 ET on this feed. Amazon reports on 29 Oct (Thu) at 16:00 ET. Exxon and Chevron report on 30 Oct (Fri) at 08:00 ET. Apple reports on 2 Nov (Mon) at 15:00 ET. Those stamps are ahead. They are not a reason to buy Friday's dip. The next Nvidia date on this feed is 17 Nov (Tue) at 15:00 ET. The prior quarter has already been reported. Do not treat 17 Nov as this week. This feed's calendar for Meta and Tesla is not usable. Do not treat those two names as still ahead, and do not invent a date.
December gold on this feed closed at 4,007.90 dollars on Friday, down 1.3 percent from Thursday. The gold fund closed at 366.61, down 0.6 percent on Friday, and down 4.0 percent from the 16 Oct close on this feed. A haven week that does not lift gold is not a gold entry. A weekend claim is not a gold entry either.
The dollar index on this feed closed at 101.81 on Friday, up 0.2 percent from Thursday's 101.61. The close story did not print this index. A small rise is not a new dollar trade.
France's interior ministry put Saturday's nationwide turnout at 410,000, below the 550,000 it gave for the prior weekend. The organizing union estimated nearly 800,000. Do not average 410,000 and 800,000. Police made nearly 1,000 arrests, the government said. That is a Saturday political print. It is not a US close. French yields did not reprice on a shut weekend.
Macro Impact. A score that stays at 43 means the CAUTION label is still off and the dip bid is still off. The error is to buy Friday's Dow drop because the label is still neutral. The other error is to add the crude sleeve, or to add defense, because a podcast line said a weekend strike was possible. A comment is not an order. A shut weekend does not rewrite a score that uses Friday's US close.
Positioning. Trade 43 as a hold, not as a dip to buy, and not as a return to CAUTION. Hold cash. Hold the crude sleeve. Stay underweight duration. Do not add high beta tech. Do not add defense. The defense fund fell 1.1 percent on Friday, to 202.23. That is not a reason to add. A shut weekend is not a US repair, and it is not a US break.

| Crude / energy (USO, XOM, CVX) | +2% | Hold it. Brent settled at 116.72 dollars. US crude settled at 103.27. This feed matches both. The strait is not open. Saturday's claims are why you do not add. Sunday's all clear is why you do not sell. Neither is a new close |
| Power / utilities (XLU) | +1% | Hold the starter. It is cleaner than a chip chase. The fund fell 0.7 percent on Friday, to 42.56. That is not a reason to add |
| Cash / short bills | High | The yield index closed at 4.988 percent. The score is 43. A flat score inside neutral is not a bond buy |
| Underweight | ||
| Long duration (TLT, IEF) | −5% | The yield index is still 4.988 percent. A cash story rose by a different amount on Friday. Do not average them. A priced hold next week is not a cover. A December lean is not a decision. Do not add to the short |
| Semis / high beta tech (SMH) | −2% | The semiconductor index rose 0.4 percent on Friday in the close story. The fund rose 0.7 percent. That is not a repair of Thursday. Do not buy the dip. Do not sell the book because the Dow fell |
| Airlines / transport (DAL, AAL) | −2% | No all clear. The strait is not open. A weekend claim is not a reason to add airlines, and an all clear over one city is not a reason to add them |
| China cyclicals (FXI, EEM) | −2% | No new decision. The China fund fell 0.4 percent on Friday. Third quarter growth already printed. Do not chase the dip |
| Defense (ITA, LMT) | 0% | A podcast line is not an order. A Friday comment about two paths is not an order. The fund fell 1.1 percent on Friday, to 202.23. Do not add defense |
| Gold (GLD) | 0% | The fund fell 0.6 percent on Friday. December closed at 4,007.90 dollars on this feed, down 1.3 percent. Not a new entry |
| Financials (XLF) | 0% | The fund fell 1.3 percent on Friday, to 55.90. American Express fell 3.7 percent in the close story. Keep it small. Do not add |
Cash stays high. A 43 score says the CAUTION label is still off and the dip bid is still off. It does not say buy duration, sell energy, or buy chips. Trade 43 as a 4.988 percent yield index, a Brent settlement of 116.72 dollars, a US crude settlement of 103.27 dollars, a strait that is not open, and a Dow that fell 1.23 percent on Friday. The weekend claims are a reason to hold the sleeve. They are not a reason to add it. The yield book is a reason not to cover the duration short. It is not a reason to add to it.
| Date | Event | Importance |
|---|---|---|
| 25 Oct (Sun) | Cash markets are shut. No new US close. Saturday oil site claims are not a settlement. An early Sunday all clear over Riyadh is not an opening | High |
| 26 Oct (Mon) | US cash reopens. No new data print in this note. A gap is not a settlement until it settles | Medium |
| 27 to 28 Oct (Tue to Wed) | US policy meeting. No projections. Decision day is 28 Oct (Wed). The close story expects a hold. A hike is not the base case. A cut is not the base case | High |
| 28 Oct (Wed) | US policy decision. Alphabet and Microsoft report on this feed, 16:00 ET | High |
| 29 Oct (Thu) | Personal income and outlays for September, and the first read on third quarter output, both listed at 8:30 AM. The morning after the decision. Amazon reports on this feed, 16:00 ET | High |
| 30 Oct (Fri) | Exxon and Chevron report on this feed, 08:00 ET | High |
| 2 Nov (Mon) | Apple reports on this feed, 15:00 ET | Medium |
| 3 Nov (Tue) | US midterms. A comment about the war is not an order | Medium |
| 4 Nov (Wed) | US trade in goods and services for September, listed at 8:30 AM. The edge of this window | Low |
| 17 Nov (Tue) | Next Nvidia date on this feed, 15:00 ET. Outside this window. The prior quarter has already been reported. Do not treat 17 Nov as this week | Medium |
| 8 to 9 Dec (Tue to Wed) | Following US policy meeting, with projections. Outside this window. The close story leans to a rise. A cut is not the base case in this note | High |
Weekdays above match the calendar. Tesla and Meta are not treated as still ahead. This feed's calendar for those two names is not usable. September consumer prices already printed. Do not treat them as a new release. September payrolls already printed. Do not treat them as a new release.
| Variable | Score | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Fiscal Impulse | 57 | 10Y at 4.99% — moderately restrictive |
| CB Elasticity | 54 | 5Y at 4.72% — below neutral, Fed constrained by inflation above target |
| Flow Pressure | 43 | VIX 19.4 — lowest reading in weeks, low fear despite Iran/oil |
| Narrative Coherence | 9 | SPY -0.9%/5d | QQQ-SPY breadth -21 |
| Composite | 43 | NEUTRAL |
Regime thresholds: <30 RISK-ON | 30-44 NEUTRAL | 45-60 CAUTION | ≥61 RISK-OFF
The scorecard registers NEUTRAL — VIX at 19.45, 10Y at 4.99%. Stress is moderate. A VIX spike or a 10Y jump would push toward CAUTION.
The label did not flip. The score is 43. Yesterday it was 43. The line for CAUTION is 45. The line for RISK-ON is 30. The line for RISK-OFF is 61. A higher score means more stress. This score did not rise. It did not fall. It did not cross 45. It did not cross 30. It did not move to a crash. It did not return to CAUTION.
Data through the 23 Oct 2026 US close. This is a Sunday edition after that close. Cash markets are shut. A weekend screen is not a settlement. Do not trade a shut session as a close.
